Julie Fowlis is a Gaelic Singer and multi-instrumentalist from the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Her successful debut solo album, mar a tha mo chridhe / as my heart is led to her being the first ever Gaelic artist to win a prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Award (Horizon Award for Best Newcomer 2006). She was also voted Gaelic Singer of the Year 2005 at the Scots Trad Music Awards, and was Winner of the International Pan Celtic Sean-Nós (Old Style) singing competition 2004.
