Iain MacKinnon - Best Seat in The House
Quoted from Iain's myspace page I was born in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis growing up in a home where singing was a huge part of everyday life. My parents didn't quite see the value of learning to play guitar though, so I had to make do with playing "Love Me Tender" on a Yamaha keyboard while my mates were playing "Talk Dirty" on SGs in the barn down the road. I went to Glasgow University in 1995 and finally persuaded my parents to buy me a guitar. I became a christian while in Glasgow. My cousin and I formed the band 'Canvas' in the summer of 1999 and released our debut album 'Less Than Perfect' in December 2001. After Ruairidh left the band to take up full-time ministry, myself and the remaining band-members started off 'Xtreme' - a truly in-yer-face youth event. See the website for more! www.xtremeevent.com I began writing and recording the demos for my solo album 'Best Seat in the House' with Mike Merritt in 2002 and the album was released in August 2003. Check out my solo page - www.iainmackinnon.com for details and reviews. As well as playing at 'Xtreme', I lead the worship at the Bayhead Youth Group in Stornoway every Sunday night and I'm the worship leader for the multi-denominational organisation, 'Stand in the Gap'.
